Dr. Anat Shahar

Dr. Anat Shahar from the Carnegie Science Earth and Planets Laboratory will speak to local students about her work on exoplanets. This event is closed to the public.

Anat Shahar is the Vice President for Research at Carnegie Science, an independent research institution that empowers scientists to pursue the biggest questions of our time, advancing discoveries that transform our understanding of life, planets, and the broader universe. In this role, she serves as the president's chief scientific adviser, helping to shape and execute the institution's priorities and research programs, building and strengthening its external relationships, and advancing its impact in the communities where its scientists work. Her own research program aims to trace planetary scale processes and to understand the origins and evolution of planets both within and beyond our Solar System. She founded and leads the multi-institution, interdisciplinary AEThER Project, funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, which is working to develop a framework for detecting chemical signatures of life on distant worlds.
