Pride of Woodstock 365

Because Pride Happens Everyday!

Pride is more than a celebration in June, it is supporting and connecting with our community year-round. In that spirit, we are proud to announce Pride of Woodstock, Vermont 365! Each month, we will bring programs to our community in an effort to build a more supportive, welcoming, and accepting presence year-round. The sessions will cover a wide range of topics, activities, and content throughout the year.

We are always looking for the next Pride 365 topic or event! if you have an idea, please let us know by sending an email to prideofwoodstockvermont@gmail.com.

Session 4 - Carnegie Science President Speaking To Students

Dr. Mulchaey will visit The Prosper Valley School and Union High and Middle Schools to engage in conversation about the importance of science, his experience as a scientific researcher,  his career journey, and life experiences as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.  (Please note this is not open to the public event)

Session 5 - Remarkable: Voices From The Trans Community

Documentary begins at 6:30 with a panel discussion to follow.

Subjective perspectives are essential to research and our modern media landscape. Yet, the subjective reports of trans people are constantly scrutinized by journalists and medical researchers. Trans people of all ages are denied insurance coverage for medical transition until a trusted expert is willing to verify their sense of self. Why are trans identities so easily dismissed? What makes someone an expert? Do objective perspectives even exist? Interviews with innovators such as Julia Serano, P. Carl, anthropologist Marijke Naezer, and the perspectives of trans community members, help us to visualize the possibilities of a world wherein we finally trust one another.
